Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island off the Atlantic Seaboard in Canada is a truly magnificent place.  Full of unexpected panoramas and hidden coves, it lends itself well to Landscape photography. I enjoy the meteoric tidal changes that leave patterns on the sand in a different way every day. I saw this log almost floating and couldn’t resist the diagonal thrust, which coupled with a dramatic sky reflected in the tidal pool made for a simple but powerful composition. I have a growing interest in Landscape Architecture and have just finished reading Wrightscapes by Charles and Berdeanna Aguar….a book about Frank Lloyd Wright’s landscape designs plus his relationship with Jens Jensen, a well known Landscape Architect that worked with Wright. Jensen developed his idea of council rings based on native american societal ideals of meeting in a circle, something which I’m very interested in as an Earth Artist. See below my interpretation of the Native American Medicine Wheel based on concepts of sacred geometry.

Below you can see another circle I made actually on Prince Edward Island with the four logs pointing to the four cardinal directions.
